Taking a deep breath before returning to the fray

You may have noticed that the year-long election season is starting to pick up steam.

You may also have noticed that the Republican debates are set to being Thursday.

You may even have noticed that Donald Trump, of all people, is the current leader in Republican polls.

Now that the Hugo Awards voting is ended and the Rabid Puppies have been unmasked as unremarkable trolls who don’t actually believe anything, the next item on the agenda is watching the circus of the GOP nominating process. I do not take this responsibility lightly. I just needed a breather before embarking on what is sure to be the silliest of silly seasons.

I’m up for this. Who’s with me?

  1. You are braver than I. I am already burnt out by all this idiocy and it is only going to get worse. I do not own a TV but no doubt there will be plenty of places to view the idiots on parade and clown debates online ad infinitum (or ad nauseum) so I’m sure I’ll be bombarded even if I don’t really want to.

As for the rabid puppies… whatever happened? I was following that for a while but missed the (anti)climax.

    1. I wouldn’t call it bravery so much as taking far too much enjoyment in pointing out the hypocrisy, poor logic, and outright lies. If only there was a German word for taking pleasure in all the wrong places.

As for the Puppies, their leader sensed impending defeat and (and I am not making this up) said that having every work on their slate of nominations lose to “No Award” had been their REAL goal all along (http://www.donotlink.com/g83r). I’m expecting an announcement any day now stating that their boycott of Tor was intended to increase Tor’s sales (which it has).

      1. Somehow, I think there is a German word for that but maybe it’s just because I want there to be! I will ask my German friends, there just has to be one, and if not, they need to make one up.

As for the stupid puppies, yeah, not surprised at all. Typical libertarian/republican/mra/teabag way — up is down, left is right, double-speak kinda crap. That’s what makes them so damn frustrating to deal with!
