Chuck Wendig on the Amazon/Hachette brouhaha

I’ve previously linked Charlie Stross’ take on the dispute between Amazon and Hachette. Chuck Wendig takes a larger view (and adds some lovely analogies) on his blog today. The TL/DR (and really, it’s a “should read” bordering on “must read”) is that this is an ugly skirmish that’s part of a longer, ongoing turf war and there are villains on both sides of it. The loser, no matter who wins, seems likely to be both “the reader” and “the author.” That’s a shite state of affairs for those of us who had naively hoped that the internet would end the power that the various middle-men held over creators and their fans.
