I’m sure you’re familiar with the adage that Republicans pray for rain on election day. The lower the turnout, the better Republicans do. The only silver lining to this is that their prayers don’t seem to affect weather patterns.
So, rather than rely on prayer, the new plan seems to be to attempt to forcibly keep turnout low. That’s the purpose of the Voter ID law craze. You thought it was “prevent election fraud?” Heh. That’s funny. Of course, it isn’t really a “new” plan. Shenanigans to keep people away from the polls have been around for a long, long time. Remember the “poll tax?” What about a “literacy test?“
The bottom line is, if your platform depends on suppressing voter turnout, by means natural or otherwise, maybe the problem isn’t the voters. Maybe you should rethink the message.
